“But I just can’t.”

I remember standing on the sidelines watching and thinking that looks so much fun but I just can’t.

It was a beautiful summer day 15 years ago on a French beach. I was there for a long weekend celebrating my dear friend’s wedding. A group of us headed to the beach where everyone ran screaming into the ocean. Laughing, playing, splashing. Everyone except me. I didn’t want to get cold.

I look back on that memory and wish I had been brave enough to literally take the plunge but my fear won that day. So, I played it safe on the beach, by myself, watching everyone else take advantage of the amazing moment.

How often do we do this in life? We hear the word "no" leave our mouths before we give our heart the chance to say “yes”. Yes to stepping out of our comfort zone. Yes to change. Yes to growth.

This memory has been a catalyst over the years for me to embrace discomfort that little bit more.

Funnily enough, eight years ago I started having a cold shower every morning and I love it! This practice has definitely grown my resilience not just to the cold but to life. I know it has made me stronger physically and mentally but it has also helped me soften, so I am not so quick off the mark to say no because something scares me. This softening has given my heart the space to utter the brave word yes in a more frequent manner.

What could you say yes to this week? Taking a beat to give your heart a chance to speak up for what all our hearts truly, deeply desire - some adventure.

Thank you for being here. Sending love and kindness,

Laura x
