Do You Ever Feel Like It’s Not Enough?

I have ants in my pants. That restless feeling that I should be striving for more, without really knowing why, because when I stop and look around me all I can see is beauty and abundance. And that’s when the answer hits me - to stop.

To stop and take a moment to appreciate what’s already here. In yoga, this practice is called Santosha, the Sanskrit word for contentment.

Cultivating contentment is a practice, and there is something deeply comforting about the calm, warmth of peace and gratitude when Santosha sweeps through your being, softening the urge to compare, to seek and to long for something else.

Contentment gives us permission to stop pushing. But it doesn’t always come naturally, and that is when the practice has to come into play.

Sometimes it really is as simple as saying thank you.

One of my favourite quotes says it best, “If the only prayer you say in your entire life is thank you, that would suffice.” Meister Eckhart.

So when that niggling, wriggling feeling of not enoughness crawls through your mind stop and find something to say thank you for. It may be as simple as your next breath.

Perhaps this can be your little reminder to stop and notice what is already enough.

Thank you for being here. Sending love and kindness,
