When Life Feels Stormy, Remember This.
My husband Dominic flew all the way to sunny Cyprus for work this week only to be greeted by heavy overcast skies and a suitcase full of shorts and T-shirts. Meanwhile, back here in Britain, we were enjoying clear blue skies dotted with the occasional fluffy white cloud. A pleasant surprise.
It reminded me of something important: there is always blue sky somewhere.
In meditation, we often use the sky as a metaphor for the mind. The vast, open blue sky represents our true nature - spacious, calm, and ever-present. The clouds, storms, and changing weather are like our thoughts, emotions, and moods - constantly shifting, always temporary.
No matter how fierce the storm, the blue sky is still there, just behind the clouds. It hasn’t gone anywhere.
And just like the saying goes, “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad equipment,” If we equip ourselves with mindfulness, meditation, and the deep knowing that we are not the weather, we are the blue sky we can get through any storm.
It will pass. It always does.
Feel free to forward this to a friend who might need a little reminder that there is always blue sky somewhere.
Thank you for being here. Sending love and kindness,
