Can You Feel It?
Change is in the air. Can you feel it? It's subtle, but Vata is on its way.
Vata is one of the three Doshas, the three energies that Ayurveda believes we are made up of in varying amounts.
Vata is the energy of air and ether, and it's waiting in the wings, ready to step out and play the leading role in these final scenes of 2026.
The seasons play an important part in which dosha is dominant. So, as summer takes its bow, so does Pitta, the dosha made up of the elements of fire and water, which fuel our growth, transformation and determination.
Vata now brings a whole different quality to us and to autumn. The wind picks up, the air turns cool and dry, and the energy of change, movement and creativity sweeps into our lives.
Vata has a very quick nature, so when it's in excess, it's natural to feel like your thoughts are flighty and the need to rush takes hold.
Creating balance is the key.
Luckily, my desire to wrap up warm and enjoy wholesome stews and apple crumble comes naturally to me, but the tricky part is slowing down enough to balance this swirling energy.
Awareness is the first step. So when you start to feel a little autumn anxiety or October overwhelm, remember Vata is centre stage and milking it for all its worth. Invite in some Pitta to play, with soothing heat and light. Flickering candles, hot water bottles, bubble baths and log fires. Welcome in some Kapha, the elements of earth and water, by prioritising sleep, walks in nature and taking time to slow down.
Yes, change is in the air, but we are ready for it.
Thank you for being here. Sending love and kindness,
