Ten Years Of Marriage And The Ten Reasons Why.
“Are you sure?” I said with my hands clasped over my mouth. “Yes I’m sure! Will you marry me?” There he was, Dominic James Colenso down on one knee, in the rain, changing our lives forever.
Fifteen months later, exactly ten years ago today we committed to spending the rest of our lives together in front of our loved ones and the journey of “us” began in the most wonderful way.
Now, ten years on I’d like to take a moment to celebrate my best friend, my soul mate, my husband, Dominic.
So here we have it, ten years of marriage and the ten reasons why.
1. He’s A Hottie - so let’s just get the obvious out of the way. He’s very handsome and is actually improving with age. Lucky me!
2. A Best Friend - if you can call Dominic a friend you are very lucky because this man would do anything for a friend. It doesn’t matter how long it has been, if you need him, he will be there.
3. A Leader - if I was ever to get stuck on a desert island or lost in a forest or the world was ending and you had to just run as fast as you could I would want Dominic by my side because my survival rate would quadruple! This is a man who gives everything 110 percent, has the best ideas and always sees things through to the end - always! I would follow him anywhere.
4. A Volunteer - Dominic is a Governor at Nell’s school, a big part of our village’s community and a mentor in the business world. He gets involved when asked and Dominic always does his bit. He genuinely cares for others.
5. A Planner - the reason we have what we have in life is because of Dominic’s amazing ability to plan. He knows what he wants and he goes out and gets it.
6. A Student - he loves to learn and with this continues to grow.
7. An Entrepreneur - Dominic’s ability to turn an idea into reality is truly inspiring.
8. A Communicator - one of the top reasons we have a wonderful marriage is he talks AND he listens.
9. A Giver - Dominic is always thinking of ways to help with his time, his talents and with finances. He is truly kind.
10. A Rule Breaker - you can’t make Dominic do something he doesn’t want to do. If he thinks something is unfair or unjust he will say so and he doesn’t care what anyone thinks!
Dominic, thank you for the love, respect, care, fun, belly laughs, excitement, joy, growth, contentment and commitment you have given to me and our marriage over the past ten years. You are one hell of a guy and I thank the lord you are mine!
