Why January Might Be Just What We Need.
Sparkly December is such a tough act for poor, stark January to follow. As shimmer and shine leave with the old year, the reality of still another cold, dark, month ahead sinks in.
But January can also arrive bearing gifts. At the top of the list is a gentler, simpler pace which is a welcomed break after the festivities. Making this month the perfect time to practise Brahmacharya, the moral discipline of non-excess that yoga suggests we explore to restore some balance in our lives.
I’m ready to embrace brahmacharya this January. A longing for simplicity has crept in. Nourishing food, earlier nights, and space for my nervous system to gently exhale.
So thank you December. You were filled to the brim with fun and laughter, but it’s time to let go of the heavy feeling of over-indulgence. With a light sprinkle of self-discipline and a pinch of brahmacharya, the act of choosing less gently tips me back into balance.
Perhaps January can offer you the same invitation, to embrace the slower pace, consume a little less and notice how much lighter life can feel.
Thank you for being here. Sending love and kindness,
